What's New in ComicBase 9
1. The World's Largest comic book database--Larger than
ever!
With individual listings on over 225,000 comics,
along with notes, storylines, and creator credits, ComicBase is far
and away the largest comic book database in existence. ComicBase lists
over 18,000
comic titles from the 1890's to the present, ranging from
manga to mini-comics, sword-and-sorcery to super-heroes, along with
thousands of write-ups and cover illustrations. ComicBase also stands
as the world's largest and most complete comic book price guide, with
current and historical pricing on each of its 225,000+ issues. ComicBase
9 alone adds over 20,000 issues over ComicBase 8, as well as over 2,000
new titles.
2. Fully updated pricing for
2004-2005
The comic values in ComicBase 9 have been completely
updated for 2004-2005, based on data from the Comics Buyer’s
Guide. Having gained a reputation as the most hard-hitting,
no-nonsense guide to the comic market, the new edition draws on massive
amounts of real-world data retail, convention, and online sales to
give users the most accurate measure of their collection’s
true value in today’s competitive market. |

3. A streamlined, redesigned
interface
ComicBase 9’s streamlined interface
lets you get your work done easier and faster than ever before. The
interface
has been redesigned from the ground up, removing old limitations (such
as the annoyingly fixed screen size of previous versions) and bringing
a modern look and feel to ComicBase. You can now do almost all your
work from a single, uncluttered screen and numerous functions have
been reworked to save you time and keystrokes (Flash
Animation)
4. Full-Sized, High Definition Pictures (Archive Edition
only)
The DVD Archive Edition now includes over 70,000
cover images, including more than 20,000 full-sized, high-definition
covers. You can browse a title’s covers with the wave of a mouse,
or pause on a cover to see it spring to full size. (Flash
Animation)
5. New Grading Wizard lets you grade your comics
like a professional
A comic’s grade is the key to its value.
With some comics, the difference between “Fine” and “Very
Good” can amount to thousands of dollars—but until now,
grading has been a difficult, confusing chore. ComicBase 9’s
new Grading Wizard takes the guesswork out of grading by letting you
evaluate a book simply by making selections on screen. Drop-down menus
help you rate each part of the book, from the glossiness of the cover,
to the quality of the paper. The Grading Wizard then automatically
determines the book’s overall grade.

6. Multi-user support
For the first time ever, ComicBase allows multiple
users to work with the same database at the same time. Retailers can
use this to let several employees update inventory simultaneously.
You can also use it with a home network so you can update your collection
from a computer in the comic book room, while still being able to review
the results on your main computer
7. Track multiple collections
Before, if a father and his son wanted to keep their collections
separate using ComicBase it was…well, a tad awkward to say the least.
Now, you can track as many collections as you want just by using the New Database
command. You can even switch between collections with a single click.

8. Color-coding of hot and cold issues
ComicBase now lets you see at a glance where the
market's action is. "Hot" comics that have risen significantly from
last year’s value are automatically displayed in red. Comics that have
cooled in value are shown in blue.

9. Cover Gallery Screen Saver
Previously only available as a Halloween treat,
the ComicBase cover image screen saver is now great any time of year. The screen
saver cycles through all available covers and includes support for the high-definition
pictures featured in ComicBase 9 Archive Edition.
