Settling In

Well, it’s taken a few weeks, but things are finally getting back to (the new) normal. Phones are (sort of) in, email is up, servers are working, and somehow, we’ve been managing to get regular updates out throughout the transition. Much thanks for the latter goes to our intrepid production staff, who soldiered on brilliantly through all the chaos of the move-in.

We’ve hired on a couple of new hands, which I hope to tell you more about later as we get a little more settled. We have a couple of interviews left, after which I hope we’ll be up to fighting strength.

One big project we have in the works is converting all our existing comic box storage to DrawerBoxes (the nifty slide-out comic boxes we reviewed a few months back). Our new offices allow us to centralize our comic inventory, instead of stuffing it in whatever spare bits of room we could find in our old location. The plan is to put all 40,000+ books in a series of drawer boxes, stacked a non-regulation seven high (hey, the Collection Drawer folks claim it can work with six—let’s see how far we can stretch the envelope!), in row some 29 feet in length.

We’ll keep you posted how that little experiment turns out. Pictures to come!
