The Way of the Editor:

The Editor’s WonderCon Sketch Guide

Human Computing rocked at WonderCon in style (we were the biggest and flashiest booth there!) with some amusing side effects… Here’s the Editor’s sketch-strip guide to the event.

Well, WonderCon came and went, and Pete and I managed to survive the attack. It sure wasn’t for lack of trying to kill us though…

Some Cons are just out to get you.

Working WonderCon was also back-breaking work. Well, I got lots of blisters on my feet, anyway, though Pete did most of the heavy lifting. But still. I think we need some goons…

The ComicBase Booth Babes — pretty self-explanatory, really.

Pete started an unofficial Palm PC conference when a couple of the guys from the company came around to pow-wow with the Human Computing chief.

We estimate that they spent about 15 minutes trying to sync up their treos so that they could exchange contact information, roughly 13.5 more minutes than they needed to just write it down.

Small children were entirely too attracted to our display…

I call this: “Disaffected Neon.” It’s to represent the loss of affection between the creator and the subject as the subject draws ever closer to the scintillating lights, thereby alienating the the creator, who remains in her place, but grows ever further from the subject…

But here’s the actual ComicBase booth from WonderCon this year:

Shiaw-Ling Lai is the Editor of ComicBase, a Serenity/Firefly enthusiast, and claims ownership of at least one Jayne t-shirt. She also holds the record for loudest Human Computing complaints during setup. Take that, Mr. Bickford!

Feedback or corrections are wholeheartedly welcome and can be sent to her at slai@human-computing.com.
