The Way of the Editor:

The Case of the Disappearing Editor

Do Human Computing employees disappear off the face of the earth while on vacation? The answer is yes.

It’s been declared that I’ve been conspicuously absent lately, and had it not been for an entire forum topic devoted to the subject (“Where is Shiaw-Ling?”) I would have been happy to stay buried under my pile of work. But despite the pre-announcement, there’s still a lot of things that need to be done for the upcoming release of ComicBase 12.

Although I am really proud of allt he work we’ve put into the new release this year, and I think we managed to incorporate an incredible amount of user-requested features, like the new creator and appearance fields, as well as a special Collection Inventory Report. The Advanced Find is something that’s been long in coming, and it’ll give tech-savvy users a real chance to play with getting just the right combination of data they want. You can save any search settings that you make, too, so we may have opportunities for users to share their custom searches in the future.

So, thanks to everyoen who sent me notes while I was MIA. I am alive and well and hopefully will be getting back to my regularly scheduled corrections & editing soon.

Shiaw-Ling Lai is the Editor of ComicBase and an aficionado of robots, zombies, and the new-found crossover genre of robot/ninja/zombies. She delights in discovering wholly new and amazing niches of geekdom secure in the knowledge that whatever else and however obscure, at least the Internet cares.
