Lets all go to the Kwik-E-Mart!Life imitates art in this real-life rendition of Springfield’s favorite convenience store.
It occured to me that this was a very popular and very clever
marketing plan, not the least because now, if you type
in “Kwik-E-Mart” into any search engine, it
brings up a flurry
of movie-related discussions and pictures.
Everyone wants a piece of the merchandising tie-in action,
from the Krusty O’s cereal to the Buzz Cola, to Slushee goodies,
and this is generating some great buzz all around the upcoming
Simpsons movie.
The Simpsons movie coming out at Comic-Con at the end of this month set up twelve 7-11 shops across the nation to resemble the iconic Kwik-E-Mart from the animated show, and one of the locations is right in nearby Mountain View, California.
The entire office is probably going to be making a very special field-trip there on Wednesday (when they are supposed to get in more stock on the Radioative Man issue #711), but I took a preliminary trip myself on Saturday to check out the movie promo goodies and setup.
Boy was I surprised to find a security guard and a line just trying to get in!
