Mark Arnold:Real Heroes
Madame Mirage: First Look + Cover Girl
Writer Paul Dini is back with a sneak preview of a new series previewed here by Top Cow. Teaming up with Artist Kenneth Rocafort, Dini explains in a lengthy text piece what Madame Mirage is all about. He says, “Madame Mirage springs from my love of comics, adventure stories, pulps, strong heroines, bizarre super villains and probably a million other sources.” This description is backed with preliminary artwork and finished sketches. Rocafort’s style “captures the two worlds of superheroes and film noir,” according to Dini. It promises to be a series worthy of Dini’s previous efforts.
It’s the world of Hollywood action movies and models featuring the adventures of Alex Martin, a 28-year-old actor who witnesses a horrific accident on the way back from an audition. Because of the TV news coverage and Alex’s appearance on air, Alex is suddenly in demand by a major Hollywood movie studio. A deal is made and Alex’s film career begins with workouts, costume fittings and the mysterious Rachel Dodd, the “Cover Girl” who becomes Alex’s body guard.
