Narcopolis (Jamie Delano’s…)
Genre: Action/Adventure; Drama
Narcopolis is superficially reminiscent of Brave New World and 1984, the technologically advanced population of this independent city-state is self-absorbed, recreationally-drugged, and generally apathetic to the rest of the world. Enter Gray Neighbor, an “Everyman” worker in Narcopolis’ munitions plant. He is blissfully unconcerned about the logical outcome of missile manufacturing—even his name reflects the blandness permeating Narcopolis—until a grisly vision awakens his mind to the destructive reality caused by the missiles he helps to build.
His mental anguish sets off the city’s “anomaly alarms,” marking him as a terrorist threat. Though Agent Angel Love’s investigation is inconclusive, her expected sexual liaisons with Gray convince him to join T.R.U.S.T. himself. His new status gives him added comforts, but also an insider’s look at the city. Will he remain happy and complacent, or will Gray’s natural rebellious streak make him the threat they initially feared?
