ComicBase 12.1 (“Atlas”) Release Notes
Version 12.1.2 (Build 20)
This update fixes a couple of glitches in the initial release of ComicBase Atlas.
Installation Notes:
* You need to have installed ComicBase Atlas in order to use this updater.
Changes from ComicBase Atlas (12.1.1)
12.1.2 (Build 20)
- “Death” in the Notes field is no longer recognized as signifiying a character death unless it is accompanied by “of” as in “Death of The Punisher”. “Death The Punisher” will no longer do. This is to prevent other notes like “Death Trap” from being indexed as the death of some unfortunate named “Trap”. Note that if you do need to put a note in which contains “Death of” at the beginning (e.g. “Death of a Salesman”), please put the note in curved quotes to dodge the indexer.
- Fixed a couple of problems sending in corrections from the Find window.
- If you get an error downloading exchange rates, you’ll only get it once (instead of an error cascade), and a more explicit debugging message is given.
- Fixed a problem doing mass changes to the Title Comments field.
- Fixed a problem which could cause Type Mismatch errors when doing issue rebuilds on non-US systems.
- Allow Mass Changing of The USDCurrentValue field to allow forcing of updates even if the other data of an issue has not changed, and the U.S. price is thought to be up to date. The USDCurrentValue field is a hidden field that’s used to house the current US guide value. This is necessary to allow for value changes to be detected by the issue updates, since the native price and values will vary with each database and currency setting. (Only issues with changed data, or whose USDCurrentValue is different than the updates value are updated). Mass Changing this field to zero allows you to essentially force the next update to treat all issues as having changed data and thus get updated.
- Changed version number display to be less intimidating. In most cases, only the first three parts of the version number are shown, although the Build is visible in Help > About ComicBase.
- Changed the Sell dialog to remove the options for Standard and Expedited Shipping in light of the new shipping policies on Atomic Avenue. Rephrasing of other options.
- A new, more explicit troubleshooting message is shown at the Sell dialog to help folks figure out why they may not have comics listed as for sale.
12.1.1 (Build 19)
- Corrections can now be submitted from the Find results window.
- Fixed a bug which caused an “invalid index” error when attempting to mark issues as the result of an Advanced Find involving both issues and titles in the same query.
- Submitted corrections now transmit the title’s country code on new titles.
- When doing a File > File Tools > Rebuild Lists of the Find list, a compacting of the database is automatically performed halfway through to prevent the database growing past the 2 GB file size limit.
- The “max database size” threshold has been moved down slightly (to approximately) to better handle potential problems from within ComicBase before the “real” Windows limit of 2 GB is reached.
- Updates now set the Date Modified field for changed issues.
Build 12.1.1.18
- Fixed a problem which would cause users of foreign systems (including Norway and Sweden) which use a separator other than "." for the decimal place, to have trouble using and converting exchange rates. This in turn had the potential to cause problems with entering new issues and pricing. Make sure to do a “Check for Updates” after installing this version to load in the most recent exchange rates.
Build 12.1.1.16
- Fixed a couple of spurious error messages that could appear when doing a barcode-driven Jump command.
- Fixed a setting where changes to the column order in the main grid were not being remembered.
- Switched to "standard" Windows version numbering for the main ComicBase Atlas.exe file. The version number now has four parts, like this: 12.1.1.16. This basically correspondes to "ComicBase 12.1.1, build 16". (And no, we don’t really expect anyone but us programmers to care about stuff like this, but we document it anyway ...)
